Most Macs also come bundled with Apple's iLife suite of applications.
This includes:
-
iMovie - A utility for editing and processing videos.
-
iDVD - A utility for packaging movies for burning to a DVD.
-
GarageBand - A program for creating and editing music.
-
iPhoto - A program that stores and manages albums of photos or graphics.
A current Mac may also be bundled with
-
AppleWorks 6
-
Quicken2005
-
MarbleBlast Gold
-
Nanosaur 2
-
Zino Reader
-
iWork Trial
-
Microsoft Office 2004 "Test Drive". (Mine came conveniently pre-expired,
not that I care)
AppleWorks 6 is an all-in-one basic office suite that can create documents,
spreadsheets, drawings, simple databases, and presentations.
Marble Blast Gold shows off the 3-d ability of the Mac. This is a smooth
running game where you try to navigate a ball through a maze high off the
ground without falling off.
Nanosaur is a shoot-em-up game where you blow up dinosaurs! Another
excellent game to show off the Mac's 3d abilities.
Testing a few third party apps, I was quite surprised at how well the
Microsoft Remote Desktop client worked under Mac OS X. It has most of the
same abilities as the Windows version including auto creating your local
printers on the server to enable seamless printing. (Printing is the most
important thing in the entire world!!!!)
And finally, the industry standard Firefox web browser runs quite nicely
on Mac OS X. This is an environment where the tabbed browsing comes in
very handy.
What, were you expecting me to shut down the Mac? I don't think so.
